Does a Convertible Tesla Model S Sound Enticing?

Once the convertible Model S is built, Ares expects it to cost around the same as the shooting brake version

Ares’ plan for a convertible Model S isn’t even the first Tesla project it’s undertaken. The company is in the final stages of developing a shooting brake version of the electric sedan. It’s even said that the model will be available sometime in the next few months at a price of around $250,000 to $310,000 per unit.

Given its timetable, we can assume that the development of the convertible Model S will take begin once the shooting brake model hits the market. We know very little about it at this point, but the sketches do show an interesting design that past convertible Model S projects did not have. Look closer, and you’ll notice that Ares’ adopted for a two-door convertible design, a departure from the version NCE developed back in 2015.

Even if it’s still a design sketch, there’s something appealing about Ares’ version of a convertible Model S. For one, it looks more like a natural convertible, largely because of the disappearance of the two rear doors. The soft-top roof also gives it a classy vibe, though the company did say that a hard-top convertible is also in the pipeline. Once the convertible Model S is built, Ares expects it to cost around the same as the shooting brake version. If you’re interested in getting one, you’ll need to prepare for the financial windfall as early as now.

But if you’re like me who simply wants to admire it, sit back, and enjoy whatever Ares does with its sketches. Given its history as a coachbuilder, I’ve no doubt it’s going to be special.
